Thank you. I am taking my grown “gringo” sons on a trip to where I was born–on a budget. I will have to brave the overnight bus ride but I won’t seat in front, although my sons may have to since they are very tall, 6′ to 6’3.
Middle class Guatemalans did not typically take their children to see their country except Lake Amatitlan where the middle and upper classes went to vacation. I was taken to the US when I was very young and when we visited Guatemala my parents were pretty much confined to Antigua. I am exited to be going home with a different attitude, an appreciation for my indigenous roots.
