Corozal, Belize didn’t offer too many options for great running, however we did have a few very nice, but short, runs along a stretch of road (1st Avenue, Corozal) running parallel to an amazing beach (view-wise). The road was quite runnable with good footing, and allowed us to stretch our legs a bit. For a slightly longer run, we also found our way to the local Mayan ruin site, Santa Rita.

We stayed at the wonderfully charming Sea Breeze Hotel from where we did on a few late afternoon runs, getting caught in torrential downpours on each occasion. Considering that it was close to 30 degrees Celsius, getting drenched was not such a bad thing.

It was also clear from the locals’ fascination with us that they are not very familiar with the idea of people running for fun. Having said that, the attention was mostly positive, with several people spontaneously busting out applause as we passed.

In conclusion, neither of us would recommend Corozal as a good spot to be while in the middle of your goal race preparation phase, but there is some room for a short run or two.
